Et cetera! Et cetera! Et cetera!

The postman brought another letter this week that was clearly from UBHT/University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

The envelope was stamped 'first class mail' and 'private and confidential'- so once again we didn't really want to open the letter. What were they throwing at us now?

It was another 'only when we laugh' moment!

The Chief Executive, Graham Rich, has written to thank us for completing the complaints survey - and for writing so fully in respect of our concerns!

Did they think that we wouldn't bother to return the survey?

The letter also says that as the complaint is now with the Healthcare Commission it is: 'not appropriate to take any further action at this stage.'

So - it is not appropriate to take any further action with regards to the failures of their complaints system and the discrimination which results from daring to complain, because a complaint has been made to the Healthcare Commission.............

BUT!

But it seems that it is appropriate, whilst a complaint is being dealt with by the Healthcare Commission, for UBHT/University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust to allow staff to harass, bully and intimidate us; to allow staff to try to manipulate the Healthcare Commission to support those actions; to allow staff to manipulate our GP surgery in respect of making an inappropriate request for an Adult Protection Review; to continue to deny Hari safe and appropriate medical care, to continue to refuse to diagnose the undiagnosed regardless of the effect this may have on Hari's health; to cause deliberate delays in the process of the complaint that has been submitted to the Healthcare Commission and to lose medical records which they are legally required to keep safe and secure.

Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera!

They seem to have a strange set of principles!

I'm sorry but you just don't understand NHS management!

You have received a letter saying thank you, because the response rate in days is monitored and will be reported as Very Positive Behaviour to the Board and in The Annual Report!

All the rest... well that will come under a complaint as just one negative event.. and be printed in invisible ink in very small print at the bottom of the Annual Report.

It's all covered in that well know publication "NHS Chief Executive For Dummies"!

As for what an NHS Trust and it's Chief Exec are required to do, that is in chapter two of the book, and as most have never gotten past page 1... well Ignorance is bliss and no excuse in front of The Judge!

You may want to tip them the wink to look at chapter 13 - unlucky for some!
